Lockdown after Day 40
Yesterday we completed day 40 of the nationwide lockdown.
The status is that we are growing worse day by day, though slowly. Even despite such containment, India has hit 42,505+ cases so far with 11,775+ recovered and 1391+deaths. Infact, in the last 24 hours, India has hit 2676 new Covid-19 cases, 923+ recovered and +68 deaths.
The government has been increasing the count of the lockdown days as soon as we near the days of our containment. On March 24, 2020, Our PM Narendra Modi, first announced that if we are to survive this pandemic in such a densely populated country (1.3 billion+), a nationwide lockdown is the only way besides growing a better medical facility. He ordered a lockdown across the country for 21 days limiting the motion of people with a section 144. It was actually ordered after a complete 12-hour public curfew on Sunday, March 22. Back then the cases across India were about 500 and number of deaths limited to 10.
A second phase of lockdown was followed effective April 15,2020 and continued till May 3,2020.
And finally, we have now entered the third phase of lockdown. PM Modi again announced that the lockdown will again continue from May 4, 2020, to May 17, 2020.
Across the country, all locations have now been divided into three zones green, red, and orange and each zone has been given limited relaxations now. It is now critical to see how effective this strategy works.
